Zendaya has accepted the apology of television personality Giuliana Rancic after the latter fired comments about the 18-year-old Disney star’s hairstyle on the Oscars red carpet.

During Monday’s episode of “Fashion Police,” Rancic remarked that Zendaya, who sported dreadlocks while walking the red carpet, must have smelled like “patchouli oil… or weed,” according to Yahoo! Celebrity.

This prompted Zendaya to write on her Instagram, “There is a fine line between what is funny and disrespectful. Someone said something about my hair at the Oscars that left me in awe. Not because I was relishing in rave outfit reviews, but because I was hit with ignorant slurs and pure disrespect.”

Rancic immediately took to Twitter and attempted to clarify that she was referring to a “bohemian chic look,” and that the comment was never related to race.

Later, the TV host also appeared in front of the camera to issue a statement.

“I want to apologize for a comment I made on last night’s ‘Fashion Police’ about Zendaya’s hair. Now, as you know, ‘Fashion Police’ is a show that pokes fun at celebrities in good spirit, but I do understand that something I said last night did cross the line. I just want everyone to know I didn’t intend to hurt anybody. But I’ve learned it is not my intent that matters; it’s the result. And the result is that people are offended, including Zendaya, and that is not OK.”

This prompted the teen star to return to Instagram on Wednesday and accept the apology.

While it seems as if Zendaya and Rancic are finally in good terms with each other, several celebrities are not yet willing to let the issue go off the hook. During an episode of The View, the show’s hosts claimed that Rancic was “no Joan Rivers,” referring to the late comedian.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Whoopi Goldberg even took the chance to remind people that she, too, has dreadlocks.

“If you ain’t Joan Rivers, back up, Giuliana,” Goldberg said.
