Is Zayn Malik used to miming his performances with One Direction that he is now having anxiety attack for his solo show?
The 23-year-old singer, who was formerly a member of boy band One Direction, recently backed out the last minute on his performance for the Capital FM Summertime Ball due to his anxiety attack.
In his tweet, Zayn Malik apologized to his fans and promised that he will address this issue.
“Unfortunately my anxiety that has haunted me throughout the last few months around live performances has gotten the better of me … with the magnitude of the event, I have suffered the worst anxiety of my career,” the actor said in a tweet.
“I cannot apologise enough but I want to be honest with everyone who has patiently waited to see me, I promise I will do my best to make this up to everybody I’ve let down today,” the “Pillow Talk” hit maker added.
Speculations are arising that the root of Zayn Malik’s anxiety attack was due to his rumored miming since he was still with One Direction.
It can be recalled that Zayn Malik reportedly missed a cue while they were having a weekly performance for the X Factor in 2010, The Daily Mail said.
This has sparked internet debates as to whether One Direction has been pre-recording their piece and make it appear like a live vocal performance.
In a Sugarscape report dated November 25, 2013, Culture Club’s Boy George slammed the performance of the boy band in their appearance for X Factor, the talent show where the group was formed.
“Great @onedirection mime on @ukxfactor That’s when you know your a big band!” Boy George said in Twitter.
He then received backlash from Directioners which he replied with, “I was simply pointing out how well they mime!”
