Facebook has announced that GIFs can now be posted on Facebook as a status.
No tricks needed.
According to Business Insider, a Facebook spokesperson said, “We built support for animated GIFs to help people express themselves in fun new ways on Facebook.”
The only catch is to post GIF links and not GIF files themselves. So you will be needing the help of Giphy, Tumblr or other hosts of these live-giving things.
Yes, you may argue that it’s been like this for the longest time since Facebook banned GIFs, but now they’re officially opening this to the public.
Pages cannot use this function as of now, but Facebook is studying that option for the near future.
