The Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to launch four variants of the smartphone soon. Google’s Android expert, Hugo Barra, recently confirmed that its flagship model Mi 5 will be introduced on Feb. 24 in different variants with varied specs and features.
We had earlier reported that there will be more than one device at the Xiaomi Mi 5 launch event. Ghizmo China had earlier reported that the event will run from 2 to 4 p.m. Attendees can enjoy a hands-on experience with the devices to be presented. Senior VP of Xiaomi, Wanqianq Li, said that more details regarding the Mi5 device will be revealed on Tuesday, Jan. 26.
Now that the release of a total four variants of Xiaomi Mi 5 phone has been confirmed, consumers are eagerly waiting to know the related specs and prices. According to IBTimes, one of the Mi 5 variants will have 3GB of RAM with 32GB of internal space, while a second phone will feature 4GB of RAM along with 64GB of inbuilt space. Further reports say that the other two variants will have a 2.5D curved glass and will carry combined features of 4GB of RAM and 2K QHD display.
As for the prices, the first two variants will probably come at a price tag of $334 and $395, respectively. On the other hand, the rest of two variants boasting 2K display will be priced at $425 and $471 specific to 32GB and 64GB models.
According to leaked reports by Geekbench, the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon quad-core SoC, that is, the Snapdragon 820. The phone is expected to come with Android 6.0 Marshmallow at its core with Xiaomi’s own MIUI 7 operating system.
In 2013, Xiaomi made a record of selling over 10 million Mi 2 in the global market. Significant changes were noticed when Hugo Barra joined the Chinese company to keep up with his promises of producing innovative mobile phones. Since his entry to the company, Xiaomi has been recognized as the “Apple of China”.
