Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine was hinted to appear in the “X-Men: Apocalypse.” Rumors are not mere speculation anymore, as the character has been confirmed in its latest and final trailer.
Rumors of the character’s appearance in “X-Men: Apocalypse” has been going on for almost a year now, after the previous “X-Men: Days of the Future Past” showed the story arc of the 70’s Wolverine.
“It would have been a misstep to not to explain what happened to him after Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) seemingly rescued him. But maybe she didn’t do such a great job since somehow Stryker got hold of Wolvy once again in the new timeline,” Screen Rant noted in their report.
The report also said that Stryker is not contributing to “X-Men” in their quest to save the world, since Hugh Jackman’s character and the young heroes defeated Stryker’s soldiers.
Moreover, the final trailer of “X-Men: Apocalypse” with Wolverine’s appearance was reportedly a marketing ploy to gather a blockbuster hit.
Screen Rant said that Wolverine is only the 20th Century Fox’s “bankable star,” so it was better to include him in “X-Men: Apocalypse.”
It can be noted that Warner Bros. already did this kind of marketing strategy when they included Wonder Woman for its campaign for “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.”
Also, Marvel Studios has thought Spider-Man would make “Captain America: Civil War” a hit.
“X-Men: Apocalypse” is set to hit the big screen on May 27, pinning against Disney’s “Alice Through the Looking Glass.”
According to Movie Web, the “X-Men: Apocalypse” is set 10 years after the events that occurred in “X-Men: Days of Future Past.”
