Take That star Robbie Williams will be appearing on X Factor UK as a guest judge to help Sharon Osborne select the three finalists from her team. The filming will take place at Osborne’s home in Los Angeles in the coming weeks for the Overs category.
It is being rumored that Williams will be the co-judge for the show. But according to reports, he will be appearing more as an adviser to Osborne and help her in picking the finalists for the Overs category.
Osborne will be in charge of the Overs category once again this year. According to insiders, William’s presence will also boost the ratings for the show, which has been facing tough competition from Strictly Come Dancing.
“Getting Robbie back on the show is a really clever move on the part of Sharon and the producers,” Mirror UK quoted a source as saying. “He has a huge fanbase and will attract loads of extra viewers purely from his name. It’s that sort of star quality they need to compete with Strictly.”
It is not the first time Williams will be seen on the show. He has also made previous appearances on X Factor UK as an adviser and has even performed on the show. Though Williams will be giving suggestions on who should advance to the live shows, it is Osborne who will be making the final call, Cartermatt reported.
“Every time Robbie appears on the X Factor he proves great entertainment value,” the source said. “As they never managed to get him to be a full-time judge, this is the next best result.”
The other judges of the X Factor UK, Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh, have also decided on who would be their advisers. According to a report by the Huffington Post, Cowell chose Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, while Walsh picked Shayne Ward. However, there is no report on who would be assisting Nicole as of yet.
