Goldberg has been plaguing the headlines as of late, thanks in part for his semi-return via WWE 2K17. Following a series of appearances to help promote the game, things just got serious when Paul Heyman issued a challenge to the WCW/WWE legend.
The obvious intent is to con Goldberg into facing Brock Lesnar, possibly at WWE Survivor Series. The 49-year-old actor/wrestler confirmed he will be appearing at WWE Raw this coming Monday with many believing it will all become a formality.
Secret Deal Already Done
Related to Goldberg’s sudden return rumors is the fact that he will be returning. The bad news is that it may be a one-match deal, the Wrestling Observer reported. With the popularity he carries, it seems hard to believe that this will be a limited performance.
Goldberg is not given much of a chance against Lesnar considering is out of shape. He previously stressed that he would need until the end of 2016 to somehow recall his old form though things may have just been fast-tracked with the WWE ratings on the decline.
Triple H Is Next?
Assuming Goldberg does lose, a rubber match will likely be clamored. But if not Lesnar, Goldberg may be interested in signing up for the Royal Rumble 2017. Though he is not likely to win, he could be primed to redeem himself against another wrestler who dealt him a loss, Triple H.
The WWE COO defeated Goldberg with some help from Evolution and Kane at WWE Armageddon 2003, something that allowed Triple H to snare the title from him. Since everyone is talking about Lesnar’s redeem match, why not give the same angle to Goldberg?
Compared to Lesnar, the stakes could be better. Both are not active and the two could prepare for a match on even grounds. The problem is that it may not happen for Wrestlemania 33 seeing how many are expecting a Seth Rollins vs. Triple H setto, Forbes reported. Then again, anything can change in the coming months.
