Last month, a Russian aircraft bombed a remote unit in southeastern Syria, which was a secret U.S. base, escalating a WW3 scenario.
According to U.S. officials, the Russians were not bombing rebel garrison. The Pentagon and the Defense Ministry of London was alarmed as the Russians had bombed a clandestine base of operations for elite American and British forces.
It was reported by the Wall Street Journal that a troop of British special forces had been taken out of the base 24 hours earlier. However, British officials refused to comment on the incident. The situation has further strengthened the scenario of a WW3.
Earlier, it was reported by the U.S. military and intelligence officials that there was a sudden Russian strike on a site linked to the Central Intelligence Agency. It was part of a campaign by Moscow to pressure the Obama administration to cooperate in the skies over Syria, said officials.
The bombardment resulted into “hardened opposition” at the Pentagon and the CIA to cooperate with the Russians, as U.S. and British forces could have been killed at the bombed base. However, the White House and State Department officials are scared of a rise in U.S. military involvement in Syria. Thus they decided to make a compromise.
It was reported by Reuters that an important meeting of officials from Russia, the United States, and the United Nations is going to take place in Geneva next week. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the Syrian crisis, said Maria Zakharova, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, on Thursday.
