Wimbledon 2016: Kate Middleton Wears Expensive Alexander McQueen; Is She Using The Palace’s Money?

Kate Middleton showed off her court side style for the men’s singles finals of Wimbledon in an expensive white patterned Alexander McQueen dress on Sunday. Some slammed her for allegedly using the palace’s money for her wardrobe.

The 34-year-old royal and her husband Prince William sat in the royal box and cheered on Andy Murray who took on Milos Raonic center court. This is the sport loving royal’s second Wimbledon appearance after Thursday when she watched the women’s singles finals.

The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton this time opted for a dress by one of her favorite designers. She showed off her sartorial style in a white printed dress by Alexander McQueen that is priced at a whopping 2,300 pounds ($3,000). The ‘Obsession’ print short sleeved dress featured a jewel neckline, A-line silhouette, straight hem and nip in at the waist.

The custom silk dress had a talisman print, with small images of lipstick, butterflies, jewels, trinkets, and even the signature McQueen skull. The dress from the British designer’s Pre-Fall 2016 collection was a bold choice for Kate and is already sold out, Daily Mail reports. Also, the dress was in keeping with the Wimbledon whites’ dress code.

However, in recent years, the Duchess of Cambridge has come under lot of criticism for spending huge amounts of money from the Buckingham Palace coffers for her sartorial style.

Was it necessary for her to wear an expensive dress at a time when the palace is suffering from serious financial crunch? Her and William’s lavish lifestyle is reportedly causing problems for her grandmother-in-law Queen Elizabeth II, Celebrity Dirty Laundry reports.

While the queen and Prince Philip take the train to most of their engagements, Kate Middleton took a private helicopter on a few occasions to her engagements thus spending about $5,000. British taxpayers are also not happy to fund the royal couple for their expensive lifestyle.

Kate Middleton has not been able to make a place in the hearts of the public in the same way that her mum-in-law Princess Diana or the People’s Princess had done in her lifetime.

Meanwhile, Kate Middleton accessorized with her gold ‘charm’ earrings from Scottish brand Brora, which she had earlier worn during the tour of Bhutan in April, Mirror UK reports. She carried a nude box clutch; her makeup consisted of pink lipstick, and smoky eyes. Her long brunette locks were left loose over her shoulders in a side part styled in loose waves.

She covered her eyes from the sun with Ray Ban sunglasses. William, 34 also looked dapper in gray suit, white shirt and black tie. The dad-of-two also shielded his eyes from the sun with his Ray Ban glares.

Kate and William appeared to be animated watching the tennis tournament showing a lot of varying emotions. After the match, they congratulated Murray on his historic win. Other celebs seated in the royal box included Murray’s wife Kim, who looked stunning in a yellow embellished dress. Besides, Benedict Cumberbatch was there with his wife Sophie, and Bradley Cooper attended with his supermodel girlfriend Irina Shayk.
