Louis Tomlinson, the guest judge for Wednesday’s episode of America’s Got Talent 2016, was so impressed with 14-year-old Jayna Brown that he could not help but hit the Golden Buzzer on her. Brown turned heads with her rendition of Andra Day‘s hit “Rise Up.”
Wednesday’s episode of America’s Got Talent 2016 was the fourth and the final installment of the Judge Cuts rounds of the season. Ne-Yo, Reba McEntire and George Lopez also appeared as judges on the show on previous episodes.
Each guest judge had the capacity to use the Golden Buzzer for a performance they found extraordinary, sending the candidate straight to the season’s live shows. In Judges Cuts round, which is the second phase of the of the talent hunt, each of the guest judges could use the Golden Buzzer only once.
The nervousness on the 14-year-old contestant, who was there with her mother, was apparent, but she managed to deliver an outstanding performance. Jayna did not just receive the Golden Buzzer from Tomlinson, who shared the judges’ panel with mentor Simon Cowell for the evening, but also a standing ovation from the judges and audience, Just Jared reported.
“It’s not just one thing with you. You have everything,” Louis told her. “It’s so infectious to watch you perform.”
It was not only Louis Tomlinson who was mesmerized by her take on Andra Day’s hit number but the rest of judges as well.
“Your voice is so beautiful. I don’t even know how anyone can do this — sing and smile at the same time,” Heidi Klum told Jayna, who was overwhelmed by the response her performance could stir up.
“I think you’re just a natural. You are meant to sing,” said Mel B, while Cowell complimented her saying the teenager has managed to turn the competition upside down.
After the Golden Buzzer Jayna ran down the stage and embraced Louis Tomlinson, and then rushed into the audience to give her mother a huge hug. The Gossip Cop reported that Jayna, who is homeless, was first noticed during her America’s Got Talent 2016 auditions.
