A little deaf girl is thriving with her sign language skills, so she teaches them to an unusual student, her 7-month-old puppy named Walter.
Julia and her puppy were both born deaf. The moment they met in January, the duo became best friends. The little girl’s mother, Chrissy, said that it was certain that Walter would be a part of their family.
“He and Julia have such a great bond together,” Chrissy said. “I never let her feel any different because of her hearing loss and it’s amazing how she is doing the same with Walter.”
According to CBS News, Chrissy said that Julia is no doubt playing the role of a big sister. She is teaching sign language to the little puppy affectionately.
The most interesting part of the story is that Walter is learning a whole new way to communicate. As of now, the 10-year-old girl has been teaching the terrier-chihuahua mix how to sit, ask for food and respond to his name.
Community relations associate at Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA, Jamie Holeman, said that Walter is actually successful in picking up the language.
It was on Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA‘s Facebook page where the video has been posted. In the video, Chrissy said that Julia and Walter are the same.
According to Chrissy, Julia had learned “a whole other kind of love.”
“I love Walter. Walter is my best friend,” Julia said.
The adorable thing, according to Holeman, is how amazingly this video is “affecting and touching” people in diverse ways.
“We’ve noticed among the deaf community this video has struck a particular chord.” Holeman said.
Chrissy added that Walter and Julia are the same. Walter waits for her to finish her homework, and after that, they’re off to have fun in the yard.
