After the success of the recent superhero movie “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” Ben Affleck will soon direct a standalone Batman movie for Warner Bros.
Affleck, who portrayed the role of Bruce Wayne or better known as Batman in the recent movie, will now be behind the camera for an upcoming solo Batman movie. Kevin Tsujihara, Warner Bros. Chairman and CEO confirmed the news, USA Today reported.
Tsujihara announced the news during the studio’s presentation at the CinemaCon. He had not added any further information as to when the new Batman film directed by Affleck will be released. The Batman star, however, did not mention the news when he and co- star, Amy Adams, stepped up the stage to thank everyone for the box- office success of their movie ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ which garnered $800 Million worldwide. Adams portrayed the role of Lois Lane, Superman’s love interest in the movie.
Affleck and Adams will also be in the upcoming “Justice League” movie, which is now in production, as he confirmed at the ComicCon event. “It’s been tremendously exciting for us to be a part of this universe and we’re looking forward to joining the Justice League, ” the Batman starrer said. The two also showed a photo reel of the DC Comic moments with Director Zack Snyder at the London set of “Justice League” with the other superheroes.
The upcoming solo Batman movie will be a part of Warner Bros’ increasing collaboration with DC Comics. Among its feature works are the upcoming films “Justice League,” “Suicide Squad,” and “Wonder Woman.” These movies shows that the company is firmly following their plans, as reported by ABC News. Other upcoming films featured by the company, which fans must definitely anticipate are “Me Before You,” a romantic drama starring Emilia Clarke, “Fantastic Beasts,” which is a spinoff for the famous Harry Potter films, and “The Nice Guys,” which stars Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling.
