It’s hard to imagine that “Supergirl,” which was kicked out of CBS and had to move onto its sister network, CW, is set to introduce the biggest DC superhero in its second season!
Superman will definitely be making an appearance in “Supergirl” season 2. According to Variety executive producer Andrew Kreisberg released a statement, making it official that casting is currently on for the role of Superman:
“Greg (Berlanti), Ali (Adler) and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of ‘Supergirl,’ Superman will be appearing in the first two episodes of the new season and we cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape!”
‘Supergirl’ Season 2 News
Trust DC to hide its trump cards until necessary! Even though Supergirl is supposed to be the cousin of Superman, both of whom share last names and their home planet, Superman never really came in front of the camera in season 1. The reason for showing his silhouette to indicate his presence was because the producers wanted to keep the limelight on Supergirl.
However, desperate ratings call for desperate guest appearances, and that is exactly what “Supergirl” will be getting in season 2. Predictions have already begun regarding which actor will best be suited to play the role of Superman.
According to TVLine, based on what was shown in the first season, Superman should be approximately 11 years older than Supergirl at this point. Based on that, there can be an array of potential actors drawn up.
Superman on “Supergirl”
First and foremost, be it irony or fate, Brandon Routh would have been the natural choice, of course, if only he was not donning another red suit (as A.T.O.M. on “Legends of Tomorrow”) at the moment. Even though he unsuccessfully carried out the role in “Superman Returns,” fans would love to see him reprise the role again, even for a brief appearance.
Then there is Matt Bomer of “White Collar” fame, who is also a popular choice to portray the superhero. The actor has already done the role justice in a Toyota commercial, proving he has the charisma to be the Man of Steel.
Other choices for the role include Tom Welling, Joe Manganiello, Brett Dalton, and so on. The list can go on, seeing that there is no dearth of talented actors out there. Who do you want to see play Superman on “Supergirl” season 2?
