LastPass, the widely used password manager, is now available for free on mobile. The company used to charge $12 for an annual fee but as per the LastPass blog, you can now use the service for free.
The new update will make the software free for the same device types. This implies that if you started using free LastPass on your Android smartphone, you will be able to sync all Android smartphones for free. The same is applicable for tablets and desktops.
The new update is made to attract new users. One can use free activation on any device and then move to the premium version in order to avail unlimited synchronization. This means the app is free for one device, but in case you want your devices to be synced, you will have to go for the paid version.
The company has made it clear that “Current free and Premium users can continue using LastPass without any changes, while new LastPass users can choose where they want to get started for free.”
The blog has also mentioned that free LastPass will be applicable for users who have just installed a Premium trial version. For them, the premium trial of LastPass will be cancelled and the users will be able to continue with the free version.
The rates of LastPass Premium and Enterprise are fixed at $12 per user and $24 per user, respectively, for each year. The company is looking forward to a concrete userbase that would continue to grow as technological evolution takes place.
