Hundreds of protestors converge near Trump rally

Hundreds of protestors blocked traffic during a rally of the Republican front runner Donald Trump in Costa Mesa, south of Los Angeles, NBC News reports. The crowd of demonstrators could be seen enveloping the venue where Trump’s rally was being held. In one incident, the protestors smashed the windows of a police car. The number of people arrested and detained has not been made clear.

Former Montana Senator Conrad Burns dies at 81

Former Montana Senator Conrad Burns, who served for three terms, passed away Thursday due to natural causes, USA Today reports. He was 81. In 2009, he suffered a stroke, as a result of which he was hospitalized for three months. Born in 1935 in Missouri, he joined the Marine Corps in 1955.

Apple employee found dead in California headquarters committed suicide

Police confirmed that the Apple employee found dead in the conference room of the company’s California headquarters had committed suicide, as reported by Reuters. The deceased, who died from a gunshot wound to the head, has been identified as Edward Thomas Mackowiak. The role Mackowiak served in the company has not been made clear, nor the reason he committed suicide.

Man kills wife, then shoots himself in murder-suicide

Cody A. McAdams, a man who fatally shot his wife before engaging in a gunfire exchange with the police, died from a self inflicted gunshot wound, ABC News reports. The incident occurred when deputies noticed McAdams in a field outside the house of his estranged wife’s parents, where a resident had spotted him trespassing. McAdams was trying to kidnap the wife and their daughter, and the trio was in the pasture when the deputies arrived. McAdams shot his wife before proceeding to shoot the deputies.

Whitey Bulgar’s girlfriend sentenced to 21 months

Catherine Greig, who was on the run for 16 years with James “Whitey” Bulger and is currently serving an eight-year sentence for helping Bulgar escape prison, was given an additional prison sentence of 21 months by a federal judge, ABC News reports. Captured in 2011, as many as 30 high-powered weapons and $822,000 in cash were discovered from Greig and Bulgar’s apartment in Santa Monica Pier.

Child injured after car smashes into Billerica daycare

A child who was run over by an SUV that smashed into the Billerica daycare on Thursday suffered non-life-threatening wounds, as reported by My Fox Boston. The driver of the SUV was transported to a clinic and received treatment for minor injuries. The police have said that neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to be involved in the accident.
