Greg Oden is set to sign for China’s Jiangsu Dragons, as per the team’s general manager.
The former Portland Trail Blazer player was plagued with injury and didn’t feature last season.
Oden though worked out this off-season with the Charlotte Hornets and the Dallas Mavericks but couldn’t manage a deal.
Greg Oden, career and future in China
At Jiangsu, the American center gets an opportunity to come back to the NBA in the near future.
Greg Oden last featured in 2013-14 NBA for the Miami Heat. Throughout his career, this guy has struggled with injuries which diminished his reputation as a player.
Now Oden will be looking for greener pastures in the Chinese Basketball League.
The American center gets a golden opportunity to thrive in the low-pressure situations provided by Jiangsu, if his fitness doesn’t fail him once more.
Oden was picked by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2007 draft. But the center could only feature in 82 games due to injury problems. The 27-year-old then landed in East Coast, joining Miami Heat in 2013 off-season.
Now Oden joins the Chinese outfit as the second U.S. player after Arnett Moultrie.
Moultrie featured in the Trail Blazers roster in the summer league in Las Vegas last month. Together, the duo could form a formidable combination in front-court for Jiangsu.
