Ricky Rubio is once again in the center of trade rumors. Thankfully such has not served as a distraction for him in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Spain will be in for a tough semifinal matchup though as they try to ward off the powerhouse USA Basketball. A focused Ricky Rubio could help out the team and pull off one of the upsets many have been looking for all-Olympics long.
In the NBA, Rubio trade rumors are up one again. Though the Minnesota Timberwolves have made it clear that the 25-year-old guard will be starting the 2016-17 NBA season with the Spanish guard, the case may be different somewhere in the season.
Ricky Rubio Out When Kris Dunn Is Done
A Rubio trade will likely crop up once rookie Kris Dunn proves he is the new star guard that the T-Wolves need. Until that time comes, no changes (or trades) are expected to happen. It may be safe to say that all trade rumors are quashed if he makes it to NBA trade deadline in February in Minnesota.
Kings Keeping Tabs On Ricky Rubio
The Sacramento Kings are the team that is reportedly interested in Rubio. With Rajon Rondo now with the Chicago Bulls, Sacramento is looking for a guard that can hold the team together and hum with DeMarcus Cousins.
The Kings do have Darren Collison at the moment though his focus is questioned due to a domestic violence issue. Assuming the T-Wolves entertain a trade, who will they give up?
The only logical choice right now is Rudy Gay, someone who is believed to be on the way out. But for the Kings to agree, the T-Wolves may need to add another player or perk to make it happen. Will draft picks or money consideration be enough?
Ben McLemore is another guy the Kings may give up though it depends on what Minnesota will give up. Gay is a more likely target with Minnesota in need of a gunner. If the Kings direly want Rubio, it will come at a price. Gay is sensible but McLemore seems more realistic. So who will it be?
