The Raptors were the front-runners to sign the tall forward. The 25-year-old now returns home with fresh opportunity and comfort to shrug off the label that he was a “disappointment” after being drafted as No 1 overall pick in 2013 NBA draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Bennett was acquired by the Timberwolves in the Kevin Love trade with the Cavs.  The 6-foot-8 forward averaged 5.2 points and 3.8 rebounds in 57 games for the Timberwolves last season. Bennett also posted a decent performance featuring for team Canada in FIBA America Championship last month, which sparked interests of many teams.
