Ahead of the production for the third, and possibly the last, standalone Thor movie, Thor: Ragnarok, Mark Ruffalo has disclosed a few interesting facts about the film.
Speaking about the relationship between himself, playing the Hulk, and Chris Hemsworth, starring in the title role of Thor, Ruffalo said in an interview with Empire, “There’s a little bit of Midnight Run, with [Charles] Grodin and [Robert] De Niro. I feel like that’s kind of where we’re heading with this relationship between Thor and Banner. It is a universal road movie – that’s where we’re heading. It’s not where you’d think it will be, so it’s not your classic road movie but it has that structure, I think.”
While he emphasized he hasn’t read the script yet, “this is what we’re talking about” in early discussions, adding that the movie will be shot in Sydney, Australia. He also said that it was his on-screen relationship with Hemsworth that encouraged Marvel to introduce a bit of comedy in Thor 3. “I love Chris [Hemsworth], and it’s not an accident that we’ve been put together because we have a good time together and we goof off. The fact that we’re moving towards the smart-comedic bent plays into our relationship.”
Thor: Ragnarok is scheduled to hit theaters on November 3, 2017, Marvel.com notes. In addition to Hemsworth and Ruffalo, the movie will also feature Tom Hiddleston as Loki and Jaimie Alexander as Sif.
