Microsoft has announced that the Xbox One now has its own dedicated Reddit App called ReddX. In addition to ReddX, Microsoft is also updating the Xbox One Twitch App as well as adding a new MTV app.
“At Xbox, community is a big part of who we are. And we know at reddit, community makes up the very core of the service there, too. The launch of ReddX on Xbox One is exciting because it combines the intense community involvement we’ve come to know on both platforms with the unique capabilities offered by Xbox One,” said Larry Hyrb, also known as Xbox LIVE’s Major Nelson.
With ReddX, Xbox One owners can now browse through any of the community’s subreddits and have access to a customized main page. Users can read text, view images & GIFs, and watch videos, with the additional ability to zoom in or out of text and images. Users will also be able to upvote or downvote Reddit threads, make comments, and even save photos from threads. Additionally, the ReddX app can be Snapped to the side of a user’s TV so they can follow their favorite threads and by using the ReddX app, users can even earn a few Achievements.
As previously mentioned, Microsoft is also adding a few new features to the Xbox One Twitch app. The update will allow the Kinect to follow and zoom on to a user’s face while broadcasting. Audio can also now be captured through a user’s headset in case a Kinect is not attached to the console. Also, a new “watch with friends” section will be available where users can check out what their friends are currently watching on Twitch and watch it as well.
Lastly, MTV is coming to the Xbox One with a new app where users can watch sneak peeks, bonus clips, recent full episodes from select MTV shows, and more. Users will also be able to check out the latest pop culture news and fashion and view behind-the-scenes footage from the latest movies. Additionally, the MTV app may also feature festivals as well as music and video awards.
The updates and new apps are now available on the Xbox One with the console’s latest update.
