‘The Expanse’ Season 2: How It May Begin

Syfy’s The Expanse proved to be a pleasant surprise when its pilot episode aired in late 2015. Up until its tenth episode, the series, based on the novels by James S. A. Corey, has done a wonderful job introducing viewers to the world and its characters.

This week, EW posted a season 2 sneak peek showing Thomas Jane’s Miller dining with the Rocinante crew, composed of Steven Strait, Dominique Tipper, and Wes Chatham. During the season finale, we found out how a mysterious protomolecule affected the innocent citizens of Eros station. For season 2, we can expect the team to do whatever it takes to stop the threat.

In an interview with EW, showrunner Naren Shankar said that season 2 would pick off where season 1 left off. “There’s a lot of big events that happen subsequent to the guys leaving Eros in the book, and that is definitely the first chunk of the second season, so we’re picking up the scene after that.”

At San Diego Comic-Con, Shohreh Aghdashloo, who plays United Nations Assistant Undersecretary Chrisjen Avasarala, didn’t reveal any specifics, only that season 2 will start “with a kick.”

“Our writers are doing such a great job,” Aghdashloo enthusiastically said in an interview with Blastr. “My character is fascination, you know. She’s just out and about and, according to her, trying to get sh*t done.”

It looks like Chrisjen is about to get her hands dirty in season 2 as she tries to dig deeper to the tension between Earth and Mars.

The second season of The Expanse is expected to premiere in 2017. You can watch Blastr’s interview with Aghdashloo below.
