A teacher was arrested for making videos of girls changing clothes inside a closet at a Napier elementary school.

Thirty-year-old Jarrett Jones was arrested by the police after video and numerous pictures of young girls were discovered on the hard drive in his home.

The recordings, more than 40 of them in total, were made from inside a closet of the music room at the Napier Elementary School, according to the affidavit. Jones served as the music teacher at the school from 2011-2015; pursuant to which, he became an assistant director of band at Antioch High School.

Jarrett Jones: Teacher sought assistance from colleague regarding computer problem

As reported by the Tennessean, the incident came to light after Jones sought assistance from a colleague at the Antioch High School regarding a computer problem. Each video was given the same title as the respective first name of the student featured in the footage.

“These were videos made with a hidden camera concealed in a closet,” Metro Police spokesman Don Aaron said. “We do not have information at this juncture that there was sexual contact between these students and Mr. Jones.”

During his career at the school, Jones said he made videos of “around 20 students.” He added that he saved these videos on a hard drive of his personal computer. As reported by WMSV, more than 1,000 sexually explicit images of underage girls – who weren’t students at the schools he taught at – were also discovered.

Jarrett Jones: Teacher has had ‘no contact with students since being placed on leave’

A statement issued by the Metro Schools said Jones was placed on administrative leave on September 9, 2016.

“This action took place as a result of an allegation the principal of Antioch High received about possible inappropriate conduct involving students at Napier. Because of today’s events, the building principal, and her executive leadership, will be recommending dismissal to Dr. Joseph,” the statement reads. “The teacher has had no contact with students since being placed on leave.”

According to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Department website, the teacher is currently held at Hill Detention Center and has been charged with three counts of exploitation of a minor and two counts of aggravated exploitation of a child. His bond has been set at $100,000.
