“Superstore” will return for season 2 on NBC with the aim to bring back the comedy realm the network was known for. Here are the facts to know about NBC’s TV comedy “Superstore.”
“Superstore” stars America Ferrera, who plays Amy, and Ben Feldman as Jonah. They lead the sitcom set in a big box store called Cloud 9. Other characters are Mark McKinney, who plays the store manager, and Lauren Ash as Dina.
“It’s a true ensemble comedy, focusing on different characters and pairings each episode,” Zap2it.com reported.
Another thing fans can look forward to aside from the cast are the clips inserted between scenes showing random activities by customers inside the Cloud 9.
For its premiere this Thursday, NBC is set to air an Olympics special episode.
“Superstore” will also come back with a Thursday night comedy block from the past’s Monday timeslot.
NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke said that the workplace sitcom’s young viewers and growth in digital viewership are the main reason why they opted to change slots.
Justin Spitzer also said that it is a “huge honor” to be transferred to the time slot and it proves that the network believes in the show, USA Today said.
“Smart workplace single-cams have done well on NBC for a long time, so NBC always seemed the best fit for it,” the show’s creator said.
The season 2 will touch topics on workers’ rights, open-carry laws and voting. However, Spitzer clarified each “Superstore” episode is not an “issue episode.”
In 1990s and early 2000s, NBC was once dominating the ratings on comedy shows with “Seinfeld,” “Friends,” and “Frasier.”
“Superstore” airs on NBC starting September 22.
