Sony users are still on the lookout for the next news about the Android 6.0 Marshmallow on their devices. According to reports, even with problems associated with the Sony Xperia Z5 lineup, several devices are still up for the update including Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet and Xperia M5 among others.
According to Gospel Herald, the following devices should receive notification of the update soon even with the Sony Xperia Z5 problem: Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia M5, Xperia C5 Ultra, Xperia M4 Aqua, and Xperia C4. For those who have the said devices, the update should be released via over-the-air notification. For manual installation, check Settings > Systems Update. This should be applicable as well to those with units under carriers like Verizon, Sprint, US Cellular, AT&T, or T-Mobile.
As with other Android updates, users are advised to connect to reliable Wi-Fi or cellular connection before attempting download. Likewise, all devices should be charged fully to avoid interruptions. For those not sure of the schedule, they can check with their regional units and networks.
As for those with Xperia Z5, people may have to wait for Sony to come up with a permanent fix. Some users previously reported experiencing performance issues with their Xperia Z5 units after upgrading to Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. The device is literally broken with a sign appearing on the display telling the user that Google Play Store is not working. Users also cannot open the app. Uber Gizmo reported that Sony recommends a factory reset to users to solve the problem. However, some users say that this does not work as well. The report recommends syncing the device to the desktop PC before trying to boot up PC Companion.
