As expected, Sony Corp has unveiled three new smartphones as addition to its Xperia lineup. The consumer electronics firm did so prior to the formal start of the IFA trade show in Berlin, Germany. As hinted by sources before this launch, all three new devices run on Android operating system.
Xperia Z3 smartphone comes with a 5.2-inch display. It would be released in the US through T-Mobile this fall. It is expected to also launch in several other countries at the same time. However, the company refused to disclose its price tag yet.
What is outstanding among the features of the new handset is that it comes with a battery with a charge that may last up to two days, with normal use. In comparison, the battery life of its predecessor, Xperia Z1, may last only up to 1.2 days. The improvement could be attributed to the new display technology, which caches images for prevention of constant screen refreshing that in turn contributes to shorter battery life.
It also has the highest possible waterproof rating compared to any other smartphone in the market today. It comes with a superior processor, Snapdragon 801, clocked at 2.5GHz on all four cores. Moreover, the smartphone is capable of producing excellent photos even in low light. Wider angle shots are facilitated by the 25-mm lens.
Two other new Xperias
Meanwhile, Z3 Compact smartphone comes with a 4.6-inch screen display, which is also waterproof. The handset may be released to the market this fall, as well.
Lastly, the Xperia E3 is the only new smartphone falling in the ‘affordable’ category. The practical smartphone comes with the smallest display among the three, only measuring about 4.3 inches. Unlike the two other models, this one would not be waterproof.
Meanwhile, the previously unveiled (before these three) Xperia M2 Aqua will be in the ‘mid-price’ category. As revealed a few days ago, it would come with a screen measuring 4.8 inches. As expected, this handset will be waterproof as well, as the name suggests. This could be the smartphone for outgoing and adventurous users who constantly go out for extreme leisure activities in the beach or somewhere else.
