“Sons of Anarchy” fans are eagerly awaiting news regarding the appearance of lead star Charlie Hunnam in the prequel. The actor will be seen in the cast reunion and many are hoping for an announcement regarding his return.
According to The Houston Press, Charlie Hunnam will be present at the show’s cast reunion to be held on May 27 to 29 in Houston, Texas. Despite many fans voicing their approval, he still hasn’t confirmed that he will appear as Jackson “Jax” Teller in the prequel series.
The prequel, likely titled ‘The First 9,” tells the story of events that occurred before the birth of Jax. Set in the 1960s, it will show how the biker gang was founded and how Jax’s father, John Teller, and Nam established their relationship.
A tweet from executive producer Kurt Sutter has reignited fans that have been lurking on Twitter waiting for any updates regarding “Sons of Anarchy.” The tweet reads “Mayans MC spinoff just got one step closer. I’m very excited about this story. Dark and beautiful. #MayansMC.”
The International Business Times revealed that the said spin-off is rumored to be set in the present day and will include crossovers with the surviving members of the biker gang. Sutter also plans to bring in a new showrunner, who is well versed in the biker culture. Sutter may also be interested in exploring the biker subculture of southern California from the Latino point of view.
The popularity of the crime-drama series has created a large fan base and has spawned seven seasons. It has been the highest rated show by FX, averaging 4.9 million viewers on its 3rd season.
After shutting down another project, Sutter has more time to work on a ‘Sons of Anarchy’ prequel or spinoff on the Mayans, a rival biker gang. Unfortunately, there are currently no concrete details for the proposed spin-off or prequel series or if Charlie Hunnam will return.
