The son of country star Eddie Montgomery, Hunter, has passed away after an accident that rendered him incapable of surviving without life support. Hunter was 19.
In a heartbreaking post shared on Facebook, Eddie, one half of the music duo Montgomery Gentry, said that Hunter suffered an accident and was taken on life support in a hospital in Kentucky.
“My son Hunter went to heaven today,” said Eddie Montgomery. “I appreciate all your prayers and love and thank you for giving us privacy as we grieve and say goodbye.” Montgomery Gentry’s Twitter account also shared love, thoughts and prayers to the mourning family.
No further details were disclosed regarding the tragic incident. Hunter was the youngest children among four with Nancy, Eddie’s ex-wife. Eddie has been singing with fellow Kentucky singer Troy Gentry since 1999.
Fans were quick to share their condolences to Eddie. Jim Omtvedt, for instance, commented on Facebook by saying, “I know your heart is heavy, God Bless each member of your family and extended family during this loss. Your son lives with the ‘Son’ now.”
In an exclusive statement to People, Eddie said that Hunter is now in heaven. He also appreciates “all your prayers and love and thank you for giving us privacy as we grieve and say goodbye.”
Hunter had proposed to his girlfriend last August. The proposal happened during one of his father’s concerts.
