Selena Gomez has decided to rest from work to take care of her health and address her lupus disease. Meanwhile, fans poured in their support for the singer.
The 23-year-old “Kill ‘Em With Kindness” singer said that she will be taking her time off to be able to get back in health after “Revival” tour.
“I’ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges,” she said.
“I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off … I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best.”
The singer also encouraged other people to address their own battles and make time for themselves.
Meanwhile, fans of the singer have expressed their concern and support for Selena Gomez. The hashtag #GetWellSoonSelena also emerged after the singer announced her break.
One tweet said, “Take care of yourself and take as long as you need. We’re always here for you love. Get better soon we love you. #GetWellSoonSelena.”
“Selena is one of the hardest working people in the industry. She deserves time off to take care of herself. We love you. #GetWellSoonSelen,” another one said.
Selena Gomez revealed she has lupus last year and had to undergo chemotherapy early this year.
According to The Guardian, Lupus is an autoimmune disease which can bring damage to ones’ body. The Lupus Foundation of America said the disease has affected more than five million people.
