At the CES 2016 in Las Vegas, Segway demonstrated how a simple “hoverboard” can easily transform into a cute and friendly robot. And now, this Segway robot is a lot more than just something you can ride on. After all, this one can have a pair of arms, too.
According to Segway, its Segway robot can do a lot of things. For one thing, it can respond to voice commands so you pretty much get a personal assistant. And the best part is, it doesn’t have to be beside you to be able to hear your command. In fact, you can issue commands to this robot from anywhere in the room. And you don’t have to worry about the robot falling over or hitting the wall. This revolutionary Segway is capable of seeing things in 3D as it is equipped with the Intel RealSense RGB-D camera that allows for depth sensing and object recognition. At the same time, multiple motors built into the Segway robot allows it to move freely in various angles. And in case you’re wondering, this robot also knows how to balance itself.
Still, the Segway robot is more than a transport device and a personal assistant. It can also be a home manager, as this robot can connect to another smart hardware, which can help you check on how things are at home.
Although currently not for sale yet, Segway plans to make the Segway robot commercially available in the market, with the developer kit expected to come out during the second half of the year.
