The San Francisco 49ers may be looking to ramp up their linebackers next season with NaVorro Bowman needing help for the position. The past weeks have seen focus on the fate Colin Kaepernick but the fact remains that Chip Kelly has more problems than the quarterback position.
The 49ers got thrashed last Sunday by the Seattle Seahawks, 37-18, despite having a promising core. Aside from Bowman, San Francisco also has DeForest Buckner and Arik Armstead to lay out a good foundation.
But moving forward, Kelly may need to add some more pawns to the mix to stabilize things over in San Francisco. That may all start by reinforcing their linebackers with names like Zach Brown and Datone Jones.
49ers fans are hoping to see the same kind of play that the team had when Patrick Willis was still active. Since his retirement, the interior defense of the San Francisco 49ers just hasn’t been the same.
Will Bills part with Zach Brown?
Brown is doing great with the Buffalo Bills, proving himself to be a monstrous tackling machine. Though his future with the Bills may depend on what the team reps decide, he could be among the top defensive players to consider next offseason, according to Fansided.
Money could be an issue but the 49ers have lots to spend.
How about Datone Jones?
If the 49ers are unable to snag Zach Brown, they could move on and try their luck with Datone Jones. He could be a key insertion in the Buckner-Armstead combo though it may depend on how his current season with the Green Bay Packers turns out.
He could be a key addition against the pass-rush, though the stakes are a whole lot different compared to what Brown brings.
Nevertheless, the key here is improving the defensive end to give their offense a break. Brown and Jones are high-cost acquisitions but a necessity if the 49ers want added help to their future campaigns.
