In a new announcement released today by the company, Samsung has officially announced that the Galaxy Note Edge, the uniquely designed smartphone they revealed alongside the Galaxy Note 4, another of the company’s flagship devices, is coming to the USA through a number of carriers and retailers.
The Galaxy Note Edge got its name because of its functional, curved display that wraps around the right edge of the device; the first of its kind in the market. The Edge display, which is 160 pixels wide, gives users quick and easy access to a slew of features without having to interrupt the activity on the main screen. These features include access to email, internet, apps, notifications, news, and more. Some more specific uses include a Night clock mode which dimly displays the time, alarm, and weather in an angle that’s easily viewable by the user whilst the device is placed on a table and the user lying down. Users may also be personalize and customize the Edge screen with images as well as their favorite apps.
The main screen itself is a 5.6-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 2560 x 1140 pixels (+ 160 for the Edge screen). The uniquely designed device is also quite powerful featuring a 2.7GHz quad-core processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, expandable storage of up to 128GB via microSD card, a 3000mAh battery, a 16-megapixel rear camera, a 3.7-megapixel front-facing camera, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1 with NFC support, and the Note lines signature S Pen along with Samsung’s slew of powerful software features including the S Pen functions and Multi-window.
The Galaxy Note Edge come in Charcoal Black and Frost White and will be available through carriers including AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, and U.S. Cellular, as well as retailers such as Best Buy. Additionally,
Samsung is also releasing a set of accessories for the Galaxy Note Edge including a Wallet Flip Cover in Charcoal Black and Front White as well as a Wireless Charging Battery Cover and a spare battery charger. The company did not announce official price tags for the Galaxy Note Edge nor its accessories.
