Samsung has announced the NX3000, the latest entry into the company’s NX line of compact system cameras, in a press release today.
According to Samsung, the Samsung NX3000 combines retro design with modern performance and innovative connectivity. The camera features a 20.3-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, an ISO range of 100-25600, and a fast 1/4000 shutter speed. The NX3000 is capable of 5fps continuous shooting as well as 1080p30 H.264 video shooting.
The NX3000 also features a 3.0-inch Flip-up Display with Wink Shot. Wink Shot is Samsung’s feature specifically catering to selfie takers and allows users to take shots by simply flipping up the screen, framing a face, then winking.
As for the connectivity, the NX3000 receives the same advanced features present in all of Samsung’s 2014 cameras. Along with WiFi connectivity, the NX3000 also features Samsung’s Tag & Go connectivity which allows users to easily pair their camera and mobile devices, such as tablets or smartphones, via NFC and will open up features including multiple image transfer, group sharing with up to four devices, and remote control via a smartphone with Remote View Finder Pro.
“Consumers have come to embrace mirrorless cameras as a versatile alternative to using their DSLRs, point and shoots and mobile devices for capturing images, and the NX3000 provides another approachable option for aspiring photographers looking to improve their images,” said Ron Gazzola, Senior Vice President for Marketing, Digital Imaging, Samsung Electronics America. “With a similar photo-taking experience to that on a mobile device, coupled with the expandable NX system’s lenses and accessories, the NX3000 creates a welcoming opportunity for users to take charge and get creative with photography.”
Along with the NX3000, Samsung has launched a new compact 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 Power Zoom ED OIS lens which features remote zoom control from the user’s mobile device via Samsung’s Remote Viewfinder Pro.
The Samsung NX3000 will be available in three colors – black, white, or brown – and in two different kits – one with the new 16-50mm f3.5-5.6 Power Zoom ED OIS lens for $529 and one with a 20-50mm lens $479. Both kits will come with an SEF-8 flash as well.
