It’s a no-brainer that Samsung had a good year with the sale of its two flagship smartphones this year. The company has already won over fans without even taking Galaxy Note 6 into consideration. This brings us to our question: what can we expect next in a Samsung smartphone?
While the tech community is keeping its hopes high for the iPhone 8 in 2017, Samsung could be releasing a remarkable innovative design that can compete with Apple. According to rumors by Sam Mobile, Samsung could be on the verge of manufacturing a foldable smartphone called the Galaxy X.
But that’s not all. More rumors suggest that the tech giant will be launching five flagships, namely, Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8 edge, Galaxy Note 7, Galaxy Note 7 Edge and Galaxy X, all in 2017.
If you have been following Samsung news over the years, you may be aware of Samsung’s foldable smartphone under Project Valley. Although we have been teased of its development for a long time, Lee Chang-hoon, Display Director at Samsung, confirmed in a call with investors last January that the technology is in progress and moving “according to our plan.”
Rumors suggest the phone will be featuring an OLED screen with diamond PenTile subpixel arrangement. The smartphone would be a 5-inch device foldable to look like a palm-sized mobile. However, when unfolded, we believe it could be wielded as a tablet, perhaps include 4K resolution as well. But these are just rumors, since Samsung still hasn’t revealed any info or design elements.
The futuristic phone could indeed double Samsung’s sales next year. But the innovative design may eventually lead the smartphone to cost premium. However, its release would definitely pose a threat to iPhone 8’s release in 2017.
