Samsung is playing its best cards for the Galaxy S8 release. The South Korean tech giant needs a sure winner after the exploding Note 7 controversy.
Initial reports claimed the next-gen flagship will include an LG-made battery and a comprehensive voice assistant named Viv. Now, sources connected to Samsung revealed that the Galaxy S8 will feature an entirely bezel-less display.
Samsung leads the smartphone industry in maximizing screen real estate. Furthermore, the company has been searching for ways to reduce bezel sizes to make its high-end flagships appear more elegant and less clunky.
According to Bloomberg, Samsung drew inspiration from the Xiaomi Mi Mix. Bezels on the 6.4-inch phablet covered just 9 percent of its front display. The Galaxy S8 will take it up a notch by promising absolutely no bezels on all four corners.

The all-screen setup intends to provide maximum viewing pleasure on the 5.7-inch device. The physical home bottom, a long staple on Samsung smartphones, will be replaced by a virtual home key embedded under the screen.
In addition, the Galaxy S8 will use organic light-emitting diode technology to support its display. On the down side, the upcoming flagship will not sport dual-camera lenses.
Samsung also took a page from Apple’s playbook by eliminating the headphone jack from the Galaxy S8. Ear pieces can be connected to the device via USB Type-C port, Engadget reported.
Samsung Galaxy S8 Release: Viv Will Be Different From Other AI Assistants?
Meanwhile, one of features on the Galaxy S8 includes a dedicated AI assistance button. Viv can be modified by third-party developers to be used in some capacity for their own apps and services.
Samsung was mum on Viv’s capabilities yet, but the company did say its new AI assistant will be different and from its rivals. Neurogadget stated that Samsung will incorporate Viv on its wearable and home appliance tech.
