Joe and Athony Russo recently revealed that they would want Wolverine to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe and interact with The Avengers.
Just like the recent nod of Sony to Spider-Man’s appearance with the Marvel heroes, the Russo brothers also expressed their desire to have Fox’s Wolverine.
In an interview with Collider’s Steve Weintraub, Joe Russo said, “First favorite character growing up was Spider-Man, second was Wolverine. One of my most-prized possessions is Incredible Hulk #181. It was his first appearance.”
He then added, “It’s in my collection. It’s sitting in a safe. I won’t disclose where it is.”
But his brother quickly chimed in saying, “I know where it is.”
Anthony Russo also nodded at Joe’s pick of Wolverine as he said that he is the most popular X-Men character. Russo has so many reasons to be excited about.
Though Comic Book noted that this possibility might be possible in the future, it would definitely be not played by Hugh Jackman after he confirmed that “Wolverine 3” will be his last movie of playing the role.
Anthony and Joe Russo are the directors and writers for the “Captain America: Civil War,” which will be shown this May 29.
After this, they are set to direct again another Marvel Studios’ offering with “Avengers: Infinity War” part 1 and part 2, set to hit the big screens in 2019.
As for their plans after this, the Russo brothers said that they are looking into the idea of working for more large stories or do smaller ones, Comic Book Resources said.
He added that what they like about Marvel Studios is that they “marry genre”
“You have to keep varying up the storytelling to surprise audiences. I think there are going to be some fun surprises in store over the next few years,” the director concluded.
