Republican Debate: Jeb Bush Takes On Donald Trump, Calls Him A ‘Chaos Candidate’

At the final Republican debate for presidential candidates, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush targeted Donald Trump by taking several shots at him.

At the final Republican presidential debate before the new year, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush targeted Donald Trump by taking several shots at him.

Yahoo News reports that Trump, on his campaign trail, called Bush as “low energy.” Bush, on the other hand, responded to Trump, saying Trump is a “chaos candidate.” During the debate, Bush told Trump that he is “not going to be able to insult your way to the presidency,” something that elicited cheers from the audience.

Trump was asked at the debate about his recent proposal to ban all Muslims from entering the United States. “As far as other people, like in the migration where they’re going, tens of thousands of people having cell phones with ISIS flags on them,” he said. “And if I’m president and if Obama has brought some to this country, they are leaving. They’re going. They’re gone.” Bush responded by saying that Trump’s proposal to not allow Muslims from entering the country will not be an effective strategy in fighting the Islamic State group. “To be successful in fighting ISIS we need to engage with the Arab world to make this happen. It is not a serious proposal to say that to the people that you’re asking … for their support that they can’t even come to the country to even engage in a dialogue with us,” Bush added, saying, “That’s not a serious proposal. We need a serious leader to deal with this, and I believe I’m that guy.”

As reported by ABC News, Marco Rubio said he understood why Trump called for the ban, saying, “I introduced legislation in the Senate that I believe is more narrowly focused at the actual threat, which is radical Islamic terrorism and what my legislation would do is suspend all refugees for three years from countries where ISIS or al Qaeda controls substantial territory.”

Earlier in the debate, Bush was asked to explain about his comments that described Trump as “unhinged.” Trump, however, said that Bush was attacking him because of his poor result in the polls. “Jeb doesn’t really believe I’m unhinged,” Trump said. “He said that very simply because he has failed in this campaign. It’s been a total disaster. Nobody cares and, frankly, I’m the most solid person up here. I built a tremendous company.”
