Razer has unveiled a new device to add to the company’s large line of gaming peripherals and devices – the Razer Leviathan, a 5.1 surround sound gaming and music soundbar and subwoofer combo.
“The opportunity to produce a precision-engineered surround sound solution for high-performance gaming, movie watching and music listening, and make it versatile to use in any setting, was a very exciting proposition for us,” says Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder and CEO. “The Razer Leviathan delivers what music aficionados, movie buffs and gamers alike are looking for to improve their entertainment setup.”
The Razer Leviathan’s soundbar features a compact design for positioning below the user’s monitor and weighs only 4.4 pounds/2kg. It also features four drivers – two 2.5-inch/63.5mm and two 0.74-inch/19mm drivers with a total power output of 30 watts, impedance of 8ohms, and a frequency response rate of 180Hz – 20KHz. Users will also be able to tilt the soundbar in 0-degree, 15-degree, and 18-degree tilt angles. On the other hand, the Leviathan’s subwoofer weighs 6.6 pounds and features a passive 30 watt output, a 5.25-inch/133mm full range driver, an impedance of 8ohms, and a frequency response rate of 20Hz – 180Hz.
The Leviathan is capable of 5.1 virtual surround sound powered by Dolby Virtual Speakers, Dolby Digital, and Dolby Pro Logic II and features 3 preset equalizer modes for gaming, music, and movies. Users will be able to
connect their mobile devices, music players, or computers to the Leviathan via a few ways including Bluetooth 4.0 aptX, analog, and optical. The Leviathan also features NFC for easy pairing as well as a connection range of up to 10 meters.
The Razer Leviathan Soundbar and Subwoofer is now available for pre-order on the Razer online store and will start shipping worldwide sometime in November 2014 for an SRP of $199 or €199.
