Terrence Ross and the Toronto Raptors are close to finalize a contract extension before the November 2 deadline. Ross revealed that he is hopeful about getting the deal done.
“We’re working on it so we’ll see what happens,” said Ross.
The deal would be an “honor” to his skills, added Terrence Ross. He is hopeful to get a new deal by Monday.
Guys like Andre Drummond and Harrison Barnes have already suspended their extension talks in order to become a free agent. On the other-hand, players like Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, John Henson and Ross’ team-mate Jonas Valanciunas have signed extensions with their respective clubs.
But according to reports, unless Ross agrees to a cap-friendly extension deal, anything within Monday is hard to come by. Ross in a sense is an ideal free agency player, not closer to a maximum deal, and his value in the league is unclear.
It’s prudent for him to wait till the November deadline and lift his market value in the free agency, as the Raptors won’t overuse him prior to that.
