Rapper Rick Ross was arrested on grounds of kidnapping and aggravated assault on Wednesday.
William Leonard Roberts II, popularly known as Rick Ross, was charged with forcing a man into a guesthouse at his suburban-Atlanta mansion and assaulting him on the head so severely that the victim, who sustained chipped teeth and maimed jaw, is not able to chew food.
The rapper was arrested by a U.S. Marshals Service fugitive task force and sheriff’s deputies in Fayetville, Ga.
Jim Joyner, a supervisor with the Marshals Service task force, said that Ross was arrested without bail on charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault and aggravated battery.
Ross’ bodyguard, Nadrian James, faces charges of kidnapping and aggravated battery as well.
According to Newsweek, the victim sustained two chipped teeth in addition to injuries to his neck and jaw. The severity of the injuries is preventing the man from chewing his food. The details regarding his release from the kidnapping have not been made clear.
When officers had arrived at the mansion with arrest warrants, someone “refused to open the gate” leading to the home, “so we opened the gate,” Joyner said.
Once inside, Ross and James were arrested without any hassle. “They didn’t put up a struggle or anything,” Joyner said.
Earlier this month, the rapper was arrested on a misdemeanor marijuana charge. In 2008 and 2013, Ross was arrest on marijuana charges in North Carolina and Louisiana respectively, as reported by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
