Sony has revealed the details regarding the PS4 Pro and PS4 Slim at a New York event this week. Both consoles will be released this year. The Slim is scheduled on September 15 and the Pro on November 10.
The new and improved PS4 Slim will be available for purchase in stores priced at $299. Sony confirmed the price as well as the specs of the upcoming console on Twitter.
The tweet read “Say hello to the new #PS4. It’s slimmer & lighter than the original version, but just as pretty. #PlayStationMeeting.” The Slim, just like the name suggests, is slim, being 30 percent smaller than the PS4 and weighing 16 percent less.
According to Express, power consumption is also down 28 percent though the company says the working parts remain the same. According to Sony, the console will consolidate PS4’s high-performance technology into a smaller, more energy efficient form factor.
The PS4 Slim will ship to retailers now and will be available for $299.99, a tempting choice for first-time console buyers. For those who want a more advance console, it might be a good idea to wait for a couple of months.
This is because the PS4 Pro will make its way to stores on November. Featuring a boost to the performance of the CPU and GPU and overall system architecture, the new console will cater to those looking for a better and more advanced PS4 experience.
According to Sony, the console, complimented by the Playstation VR, will continue to give owners the benefit from having the best place to play, especially now with games that can fully utilize the Pro’s potential.
