PS4 Backwards Compatibility: PS2 Game Ape Escape 2, More PS3 Titles Now Playable

Not wanting to be outdone, Sony is placing its PS4 Backwards Compatibility into high gear. With rival Microsoft’s efforts to make Xbox 360 titles playable on the Xbox One getting a favorable reaction from gamers, it seems the Japanese company wants a piece of the pie.

Fans will now be able to download another popular PS2 game from the online Sony store. The cloud gaming service PlayStation Now has also been flooded with new titles.

According to Express, Sony’s online store now lists Ape Escape 2, the newest title in the PS4 Backwards Compatibility. The PS2 classic from Ubisoft is now available for the PS4 in full HD glory and trophy support.

Ape Escape 2 is available for $9.99 and will once again give you the chance to hunt down the apes that are hell bent on world domination. Chase down each pesky primate using a wide range of gadgets, vehicles and unlockables.

The game’s official description reads: “What do you get when you combine 300 monkeys and one little mix-up? Discover the mayhem as the Specter, an evil monkey, leads troops of riotous monkeys in a revolution.”

Ape Escape 2 also comes with Share Play, Remote Play, activity feeds and second screen support. With all these features, the game takes up a decent chunk of memory though, 1.7 GB of it to be precise.

Cloud gaming service Playstation Now has also seen 59 new PS3 titles. All in all, its library has increased in size by almost a quarter and now includes over 300 titles.

Some subscribers should be quite familiar with some of the titles in the Playstation Now expansion. New titles in the expansion include Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge, Spec-Ops: The Line and R-Type Dimensions

It would be safe to assume that Sony will be raking in the dough with the PS4 Backwards Compatibility. For the full list new Playstation Now games, see below:
