‘Pretty Little Liars’ Season 7 Episode 2 Recap: Heartbreaks & Revenge

Spoiler Alert! If you haven’t already watched “Pretty Little Liars” Season 7 Episode 2, read the following article at your own risk.

The Pretty Little Liars can be pretty ruthless when it comes to relationships. Rosewood has turned into the land of breakups in episode 2 of PLL season 7 and this time, it’s all boys, who got victimized.

Hanna made it back to safety, without Mary Drake pulling any nasty tricks on her, but did she have to break Caleb’s heart away?

Even though Hanna admitted that “I always felt safe around you,” she also mentioned in the same breath that the kiss they shared before she got kidnapped by Uber A was just a weak moment and meant nothing!

While the viewers expected Hanna to have taken this decision because she wanted to give her engagement with Jordan a chance, they were wrong. Soon after, Hanna dragged Jordan to the restaurant that they had first met and finding it torn down proceeded to end their relationship!

“Pretty Little Liars” Season 7 Episode 2 Review

We had barely time to contemplate on why Hanna was behaving so erratically when Aria told a bewildered Liam that things were over between them, reports Entertainment Weekly, without so much as an attempt to dim the blow!

This was followed by Liam informing Aria that he was told to consult, on her and Ezra’s book. Awkward!

As it turns out, Liam isn’t the type of guy who leaves without a fight. Having figured out that Aria shares more than just a teacher-student relationship with Ezra, he proceeds to give his sarcastic comments regarding the book during one of the editing sessions with Ezra. Aria has to now figure out a way to prevent Liam from revealing the truth about her and Ezra’s relationship.

Spencer surely has a pretty horrible day, what with getting fired from her job and suspecting that her boyfriend cares more about his ex-girlfriend than her. But even though they have the “difficult” talk, and come very close to breaking up, Caleb assures her that they had not made a “mistake” by hooking up.

Mary Drake, as creepy as she is, somehow kept popping up everywhere the pretty little liars go. After giving Hanna a lift, she visits Spencer to reveal a dark secret that happened in the past, reports Wetpaint, and then also showed up just in time to help Emily break into Alison’s hospital room.

Speaking of Alison, it was terrifying to watch how helpless she was feeling in the asylum. After Emily is refused any visiting rights by Dr. Rollins, even though she gets a pretty desperate call from Alison, she takes matters into her own hands. And after witnessing how Alison’s mental condition had deteriorated, Emily quickly guessed that Dr. Rollins must have something to do with it.

The ultimate kicker arrived at the end of the episode. As Dr. Rollins had a heated argument with Mary Drake and Emily tried to listen in, a hooded figure (Uber A?) injected something into one of the tubes attached to Alison’s body and then rolled her on a stretcher out of the door.

Alison appeared to move into some sort of a blinding light! Was it just the daylight outside of the asylum? Was it heaven? Is Alison dead?

Find out in the next episode of “Pretty Little Liars” Season 7, which airs on Tuesdays only on Freeform.
