Lionsgate announced that official filming begins for “Power Rangers Reboot.” Saban, the Animation company behind the long running action franchise, has its cast and crew in Vancouver where production of the motion picture is now underway.
The Power Rangers film stars Dacre Montgomery as Jason the Red Ranger, RJ Cyler as Billy the Blue Ranger, the English actress and singer Naomi Scott Kimberly as Kimberly the Pink Ranger, Becky G. as Trini the Yellow Ranger and the Chinese-Canadian actor Ludi Lin as Zack the Black Ranger. Other media outlets like Heroic Hollywood confirmed that Elizabeth Banks will be Rita Repulsa. As all fans know, she is famous for her role in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy and The Lego Movie.
The Power Rangers will be directed by Dean Israelite from a script written by John Gatins, Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama, and Max Landis. The upcoming movie will be produced by Haim Saban, Brian Casentini, Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen. The film’s executive producers are Allison Shearmur and Brent O’Connor. MovieWeb is predicting that the upcoming film will be one of next year’s biggest movies.
The conductor and songwriter Brian Tyler is the composer of the flick. Kelli Jones is the costume designer. Set decorator is assigned to the Oscar-nominated Hamish Purdy and the stunt coordinator is Paul Jennings.
The Power Rangers synopsis reads: “Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove and the world is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.”
Saban’s Power Rangers is slated to hit theaters on March 24, 2017.
