Outage means loss for players. You pay more than you play. When PlayStation Network was down for a few hours, Sony decided to extend the subscription of PlayStation Plus members. After Sony made the announcement, players have been waiting for details on PlayStation Plus Membership Extension, and here comes the news:
After a long wait, Sony has finally started sending out emails about PlayStation Plus membership extension to players affected by the PSN outage. The extensions include PlayStation Now, video rentals and PlayStation Plus. Sony has not clarified how this PlayStation Plus membership extension will exactly work, but vg247 in its report mentions that “judging from the last time it had to do this, you’ll just see time added to your subscription period automatically.”
Due to the heavy usage, a PSN outage was expected during Christmas and New Year, but to all gamers’ surprise, everything went perfectly fine last holiday season. It is believed that hacking was the reason behind the recent outage this time. Phantom Squad, a hacking group, has taken responsibility of it. Even though the PSN outage lasted for a few hours, extending PS Plus membership is a wonderful decision by Sony. There are many players who still do not know that something like this has happened.
Great job, Sony. If you were among the affected ones, wait for you PlayStation Plus membership extension. It must be on its way.
