It is now the chance for Pippa Middleton to get an aristocratic title. Her sister Kate is the Duchess of Cambridge and a princess as well. But the brunette beauty will be no less; she will receive a title after her wedding to James Matthews.
Pippa’s fiancé James, who is a hedge fund manager by profession, is heir to a 10,000 acre Scottish property near Loch Ness. Her future father-in-law David Matthews is the Laird of Glen Affric and owns the Scottish highland property.
Being James’ wife would allow Pippa Middleton to use the courtesy title of “Mrs Matthews of Glen Affric the younger.” She will be able to use the title in the Commonwealth countries. She will also get the title of Lady Glen Affric when her father-in-law passes away.
However, David does not use his title. So it is very likely that his son James Matthews, 40, will also not use the title. David is a self-made billionaire and received the title when he bought the huge property in 2008, Daily Mail reports.
Since the title was also purchased along with the property, David is not using it. It is unlike a title that is inherited. James will inherit the title upon his father’s death, although like David, he may not choose to formally use it.
The Scottish estate has a historic castle and a deer park. Queen Elizabeth’s grandmother Mary once stayed at the hunting lodge in the 19th century. The estate is used by the Matthews family as a holiday retreat from their London home.
The sprawling estate is also made available on rent to members of the public for hunting parties; cost for a three-night stay can be upwards 11,880 pounds for up to eight people. Retired footballer David Beckham shot a campaign for his Haig Club whiskey in the estate in 2014.
Pippa Middleton and James Matthews got engaged during a romantic break in the Lake District over the weekend. The couple released a statement saying that they would tie the knot in 2017. Pippa and James dated in 2012 but broke up. They reconciled after her split from Nico Jackson. They got back together last year.
