Back in Oscars 2015, American actress Patricia Arquette used her Best Actress acceptance speech to sound off her support for equal wages among male and females in the United States. It seems though that the indutry to which she belongs to refuse to acknowledge the problem of gender inequality. Arquette reportedly lost a lot of job opportunities after her public recommendation.
Arquette was cheered during that time by Meryl Streep and Jennifer Lopez in the audience when the actress said, “It’s our time to have equal wage pay once and for all, and equal rights for female workers in the United States of America.” However, according to the New York Times, while the actress was speaking at a Tribeca Film Festival and #ActuallySheCan event, the 48 year old “True Romance” actress confirmed she had lost jobs for highlighting the problem of gender wage inequality.
Arquette, who took home an Oscar award for her role in the 2014 drama film “Boyhood,” stated, “But I’m OK with that.” Arquette also said, “Sometimes when you’re in a position to make a difference – to be a part of that story is a great thing.”
Page Six also reported that Arquette recently traveled to Washington D.C. to speak about the equal pay issue. The actress said that it’s a bumpy road in dealing with the issue, however, Arquette made a firm decision to do what she can to make sure women are equally paid in Hollywood and beyond.
The cast of the American drama series “CSI: Cyber,” stated, “At my age, it’s a time in my life where I want to do things that make the world a better place for everyone to live in.”
