The Golden Globes 2016 awards ceremony occurred last night, and the winners may have a shot at winning at the upcoming Oscars 2016 this February 26. Provided are the list of possible nominees for each category. However, will these Oscars 2016 predictions fly next month? Will Leonardo DiCaprio finally earn his own emblem after years of trying?
Last night, “The Revenant, “Joy,” and “Spotlight” earned their respective awards at the Beverly Hilton. Provided that the event is a month away from the “big league” awards ceremony, here are a few Oscars 2016 predictions as to which of the entertainment industry’s best might earn the miniature statue.
Straight Outta Compton
The Big Short
Mad Max: Fury Road
Bridge of Spies
“Spotlight” may grab this category’s award due to the intriguing storyline of the movie. Apart from it being a sexual abuse case that involved the Catholic Church, it also is very relatable and absorbing. However, “Mad Max: Fury Road” may also have a shot at winning the category since it received numerous positive feedback from viewers and critics alike.
“The Big Short” may also win since it aced the Golden Globes 2016. In fact, the movie is star-studded with the creative acting inputs of Hollywood’s best such as Brad Pitt, Christian Bale, Ryan Gosling, and Steve Carell.
Saoirse Ronan for “Brooklyn”
Charlotte Rampling for “45 Years”
Cate Blanchett for “Carol”
Lily Tomlin for “Grandma”
Brie Larson for “Room”
Alicia Vikander for “The Danish Girl”
Amy Schumer for “Trainwreck”
Provided that Larson is already a seasoned actress, she may get the award since she put a lot of effort to fit into the role. The story is about a woman who was abducted when she was still a teenager and lived with the son of the culprit.
Vikander also has a chance at gaining the award since her sensitive and outstanding performance as the devoted wife of the first person to ever complete the sexual shift surgery.
Schumer may also grab the award for best actress not only because she wrote the romantic comedy herself, but also because she did a tremendous job at making people laugh looking as natural as ever. She didn’t even seem like she was acting – it was like she owned the role. Her alleged best friend, Jennifer Lawrence, however, could also grab the award since working with David O. Russell almost always lands an actress a noteworthy award.
Leonardo DiCaprio for “The Revenant”
Michael Fassbender for “Steve Jobs”
Eddie Redmayne for “The Danish Girl”
Michael B. Jordan for “Creed”
Bryan Cranston for “Trumbo”
This award has been the talk of the town and the topic of most memes. There’s no doubt as to who may land the award. Leonardo DiCaprio has long anticipated an Oscar ever since. In fact, his performance in “The Revenant” was acknowledged and received an award during the Golden Globes. His performance in the movie could be his ticket to finally getting that Oscar he’s always dreamed of. In fact, everyone has been rooting for the actor since he did a tremendous job in the film.
However, the award may also be awarded to “The Martian” actor Matt Damon or “Danny Collins” actor Al Pacino. The former received tremendous amounts of appreciation for his performance in the film and the latter, as always, has always been a fan, movie critics, and colleague’s favorite. Both had already won the heart of the Oscars panel which could be a huge game-changer for DiCaprio.
J.J. Abrams for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”
Alejandro Gonzales Innaritu for “The Revenant”
George Miller for “Mad Max: Fury Road”
Ridley Scott for “The Martian”
Tom McCarthy for “Spotlight”
This is the trickiest award to predict as all movies maneuvered by these talents were a success in the box office charts. However, the best bet may be on McCarthy since the movie he directed was as natural as ever. He did not need to implore an out-of-this-world setting to incorporate his talents in the field. However, since “The Martian” was created with a lot of technical details incorporated into it, Scott may also have a good chance at winning.
The official tally of nominees for respective awards, despite these Oscars 2016 predictions, will be announced officially this January 14, 2016.
