Phenomenal English-Irish boy band One Direction confirmed to media that the group is taking a prolonged hiatus beginning March. Their fourth album was released on November last year and in March this year, the band made public that Zayn Malik is leaving the group.
The breather, however, is only momentary. “They’re taking a hiatus so they can work on individual projects for awhile but they are not splitting up. They will remain together and plan to work together in the future,” a source was quoted by E Online.
Band members to remain close
The source also assured the fans that during their break, members Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson will remain close.
“They are great friends and fully support one another. They are very aware that they are able to work on their own stuff as well as remain together. This is an exciting time for them creatively and as a group,” said the source as quoted.
The latest announcement came only days after One Direction released their newest music video “Drag Me Down” on Vevo, which crashed after fans flooded the site to watch. “Drag Me Down” is the first music video without Zayn Malik.
One Direction is set to release their fifth album before the end of 2015 and no announcement has been made yet on their album tour.
