Mark Zuckerberg on his Facebook timeline announced that the Oculus VR is “now available for pre-order.” Shedding some light on the product and shipping details, he wrote in his post, “When you put on Oculus, you’ll feel like you instantly teleported into adventures like deep-sea diving, piloting a starfighter or playing in a band on stage. More than 100 virtual reality games and other experiences are coming this year.” He added, “You can pre-order your Oculus Rift for $599 at shop.oculus.com and we’ll be shipping at the end of March to 20 countries initially.”
On the Rift’s official blog, the shipping date is March 28, 2016. The $599 price tag has been in the limelight the moment it was announced. Not many people think it is worth it. Here’s what you’ll be getting:
- Oculus remote
- Xbox One controller
- Lucy’s Tale (Oculus Rift Game)
- EVE: Valkyrie (Oculus Rift Game)
The report published on Tech Insider says that Oculus Rift games will cost you as much as PS4, Wii U and Xbox games cost you – that is, $60. In the same report, Tech Insider also quoted Nate Mitchell, co-founder of Oculus Rift who has said,”You’re going to see some lower-end, more affordable experiences, especially stuff that comes over from Gear VR.” These low-end games can cost you as low as $15.99. And yes, you will also be having free games for Oculus virtual reality headset.
