North Korean ambassador to the United Kingdom, Hyon Hak-bong, did not mince words as he threatened the United States with an all-out nuclear attack any minute a war erupts on the Korean Peninsula. He lambasted U.S. for participating in war games with South Korea and warned that any new conflict that will arise from this will pit countries in a third world war. The situation will be worse than the Korean War in the early 1950’s where both U.S. and U.K. fight with South Korea.
“Sixty years ago during the Korean War the DPRK stood against the U.S. with rifles but today it has full capability to deter the latest nuclear threat with nuclear power,” Ambassador Hyon told the London-based think tank Chatham House, The Royal Institute of International Affairs.
“It is a new reality that the DPRK is prepared to counter any kind of war chosen by the U.S. Conventional war by conventional war and nuclear war by nuclear war,” he went on.
The ambassador said that the U.S. must now realize that its provocative moves bring much more loss than profit. If a war breaks out, its calamity and destructiveness will be totally different to that of the 1950’s, he warned.
“The range of the war will not only be limited to boundaries of the Korean peninsula. Nuclear warheads with their explosive power tens of times greater than the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima will be flying across the Pacific Ocean,” he said.
In relation to U.K., Hyon said North Korea have access to nuclear weapons as deterrent, the Express reported. Asked whether North Korea is ready to initiate a nuclear war, Hyon said the republic is prepared to cope with a nuclear world and nuclear war. He added that North Korea is not as aggressive as how western media describe it but it is very much prepared in whatever war that will take place.
